Be Still and Know—But How? (SHALOM SERIES)
Episode 162
Seen: How God Pursues the Overlooked and Uninvited
By Teresa Whiting
“Be still and know that I am God.” We put this verse on coffee mugs, t-shirts, and throw pillows. And we imagine ourselves sitting by a peaceful lake or relaxing in a grassy meadow. It might surprise you to learn that these words were written in the context of natural disasters and war-torn chaos. How in the world can we be still when everything is swirling and crashing around us?
God isn’t asking us to do the impossible. He’s inviting us to run to Him, our storm shelter. To exchange our exhausting yoke for His easy one, our heavy burden for His light one. To release our grip on the illusion of control and lift open palms to Him in surrender. Is it easy? Nope! But it’s better than trying to manipulate a world that is out of our control.
If you’re weary, burned out, or overwhelmed, this episode shows you where to run and how to let go.
