What If Being Seen By Jesus Is Enough (SEEN SERIES)

Episode 150

150 episodes in, I’m taking you behind the curtain to share what I didn’t expect to learn while writing Seen: my own heart still aches to be noticed, and chasing visibility can quietly become its own kind of bondage. If you’ve ever thought, “Does my work matter?” or “Does anyone see me?” you’re not alone, and you’re not weird. You’re human. And Scripture meets that longing with a love that doesn’t depend on applause.

I close out the Seen series by walking through the stories of six women in the Bible who lived on the margins and yet were fully known by God: Hagar in the wilderness, Leah in rejection, Tamar in unresolved trauma and lament, Elizabeth under the weight of shame and waiting, the bleeding woman pushed to the edges of community life, and the bent woman overlooked for 18 years until Jesus called her forward.

We Discuss:

• The Seen Bible study and why I first wrote it for women who feel invisible
• The danger of chasing being seen by anyone but Jesus
• Hagar’s wilderness and finding footing in life transitions
• Leah’s rejection and the truth that God chooses what the world rejects
• Tamar’s story and learning to lament when there is no tidy ending
• Elizabeth’s story and the reminder that it is never too late for God to use us
• The bleeding woman and Jesus restoring belonging by calling her daughter
• The bent woman, spiritual oppression, and why Jesus is for our freedom
• Behind-the-scenes life while writing, hosting, leading groups, and running workshops
• What may be next for the podcast and the need to pray and discern

The Seen Series episodes are part of my upcoming Bible Study, UnSeen. As I approach the release of this book, I desperately covet your prayers. Over the next few months, I’ll be sending it to both my editor and formatter. (I’ll also be staying up way too late, going cross-eyed, and making a million little changes.) I’d love to have it in hand in by mid-late summer.
